I was born in Budapest in 1962. From 1976 to 1980 I attended the School of Fine and Applied Arts, majoring in reproduction graphics, such as etching, linocut, lithography. My teacher was Gábor Pásztor. From 1981 to 1986 I was a student at the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts, also majoring in reproduction graphics, under the guidance of Károly Raszler. I also completed the tapestry major as an optional subject. After graduating, I became a member of the Art Fund, then of the MAOE and the Studio of Young Artists, the artists’ association of the 12th district. From 2007 to 2010 I completed the joint art therapist training of the Faculty of Art and Medicine of the University of Pécs. Since then I have also been working as an art therapist.
In addition to my graphic work, I like to try out and mix different techniques. Weaving as a technique, yarn, textiles as materials are as close to me as the various techniques of graphics or painting. I am interested in the role of sacredness in creation, as well as the therapeutic effect, which makes my creative activity almost a self-healing process.
In 2023, I began to observe the peculiarities of urban life. I noticed that a mass of tower cranes appeared above the city’s functional living space, like some kind of primitive creatures taking over the visible super-world. It is expanding, being built, moving, almost every point of the city, even the green zones. More and more people live “together”, in close proximity, without knowing each other, knowing almost nothing about each other, having nothing to do with each other. This proximity and “not knowing” triggers the imagination and creates imagined stories around the visually perceived world. I began to transform these stories into new, my own visual images. I even left the city at one point, because I was very inspired by the ever-expanding, man-made world that can only be known on the surface, the world taken over by man from nature.
Even now, I wonder how long this can go on like this, what will be the end of it? What disappears permanently and what becomes permanent, and we can even see it as a value. The technique I used for painting is the stencil technique, which is specifically related to urban life, to the world of graffiti. There is some playfulness in it, but also some angularity. Colorfulness, reality, but also bizarre color scheme and unreality. So the ambivalence appears in this as well, which is characteristic of my entire train of thought . Questions can be asked, but it is difficult to find answers, this is a mysterious, inexplicable thinking and reflection in a way that is so characteristic of our time.
Autobiography
I regularly participate in group exhibitions and also organize solo exhibitions.
